If the screen, spreadsheet and staff report give different answers to this month's sales, the owner has little reason to trust any of them. Arithmetic is not the only possible cause. They may use different dates, include drafts or export only the visible page. This project asks for daily, weekly, monthly, selected-period and site reports. I see the first design task as agreeing on what is being counted, before deciding how the chart should look.

A period means more than two date inputs

The preserved usage notes specify inclusive boundaries and the grouping rules for weeks and months. First and last groups are limited by the selected range. A shortcut such as this month also needs an agreed meaning: through today or through the month's final day? Different system-date assumptions can produce different results under the same label. Defaults belong in the reporting contract rather than remaining invisible implementation choices.

Document amounts can use document dates while dispatch and receipt use event dates. Goods requested last month and received this month do not make this month's purchasing request amount and receipt quantity the same event. State the date basis, and preserve it when the user opens detail from a total. An owner should be able to see why those particular records are included instead of having to ask somebody to reconstruct the filter by hand.

Existing documents are not all recognized activity

Quotes, orders, supplier drafts and confirmed sales or purchases have different roles. Including a prepared supplier request as an actual purchase would make cost appear before the relevant business event. The archived report separates performance totals from working states and defines treatment of confirmed, migrated, draft and cancelled records. Several documents at one site may describe the same underlying transaction, so their existence does not justify adding every amount together.

There is also a difference between a report using current record status and a preserved statement of an earlier point in time. A later cancellation can affect a current query for an old period. Reproducing the report as it appeared on that earlier day is another requirement. I would specify the date basis and state basis together. Choosing an old date range alone should not be described as restoring the system's historical state.

A verified trading difference is not automatically net profit

Subtracting purchase supply amounts from sales supply amounts can provide a useful number. It does not become net profit if other costs, unresolved purchase values and period allocation are absent. Preserved implementation notes distinguish that amount difference from actual receipts and payments. A concise owner overview needs precise labels, especially where compression makes several different concepts look interchangeable.

Unknown amounts and unassigned businesses should remain visible beside totals. Filtering for one issuing business can exclude historical records whose assignment has not been established. If the reason is invisible, a smaller number may look like lost data or reduced sales. Separate views of all records, assigned scope and unresolved scope help show the work still needed. Filling unknown values with zero would conceal that distinction without resolving it.

Export scope is not the current screen page

Pagination is useful for reading. A full report export should cover the selected conditions rather than the few rows currently visible. The preserved notes explicitly describe whole-result spreadsheet and print output independently of the active tab or page. Numeric precision and text interpretation also matter when producing files: a long number should not quietly change, and source text should not become an executable spreadsheet formula.

Use synthetic records on date boundaries, receipts for earlier orders, cancelled entries, unresolved amounts and results spanning several pages. Compare screen subtotals, full exports and an independent aggregation against the same agreement. This article reviews preserved reporting notes and selected implementation; I did not recalculate the operating company's current results. An understandable report does more than enlarge a number. It lets the owner follow the records behind it and identify what still needs checking.
