I put plan-selection buttons above and below the drawing. The follow-up said the lower controls did not move it. The instruction to copy the working upper controls included their behavior, not just their appearance. Duplicating a visible control in two places had not, by itself, created a shared feature.
Comparing the earlier selection code with the final repair code shows why state ownership and connection timing matter. Several controls needed to address one plan state, and a click needed to find the actual slider even if it initialized late. A separate presentation decision kept only the upper controls on mobile.
There is one selection and more than one place to change it
If the upper control selects a type while the lower control still marks the previous type, the visitor cannot reliably tell which drawing is displayed. The controls should read the state of the component showing the plan instead of each maintaining an unrelated state. The archived code connects both button groups to the same index and synchronizes their pressed state.
The same relationship appears in product options, image lists and filters. It does not justify merging values that belong to independent screens. First establish that the controls genuinely operate the same material, then decide which component owns the selection. Repeated visual treatment and shared state are different design questions.
An early missing instance should not leave a permanently inert control
The earlier code reads the slider instance during initialization and returns if it is not yet available. A button can already be visible while its operating component is still unready. I separate file presence from initialization timing; code that exists in the page may still miss the moment when a dependency becomes usable.
The final repair source retrieves the current slider from its element on every click. Synchronization also reads the live instance and connects its change event when a new instance is encountered. That is an observed source-level response to the timing problem. This article does not claim that I have now replayed every late-initialization situation on the original customer phones.
Map button numbers to the actual material index
A looping slider can have a displayed duplicate position that differs from the underlying material number. The repair code uses a loop-aware movement method when available and reads the real index for selection marking. Seeing an image move does not establish that the controls and drawing identify the same type. Direct selection and forward or backward movement need consistent meaning.
Those methods and indices belong to this project’s slider connection. Another library needs its own explicit mapping; copying method names cannot guarantee compatibility. A stable material ID is a useful boundary when adapting the idea. Reading back the selected material can expose mismatches that an impressive transition might otherwise hide.
Do not let automatic movement immediately overrule a visitor
The actual repair source stops autoplay when a selection is made. A drawing that immediately advances after a visitor chooses it is difficult to examine. The purpose is to keep the chosen material readable, rather than add more click effects. Any policy for restarting automatic movement belongs to a separate interaction decision.
The click handler also controls default behavior and competing event responses. Such intervention depends on the surrounding page. Copying it indiscriminately can suppress another necessary action. Even a small button repair requires examining which other programs respond to the same event and which responsibilities should remain intact.
Control count and control correctness need separate checks
The user decided to keep only the upper buttons on mobile. That reduces repeated controls on a small screen without contradicting the desktop arrangement. Hiding the lower group with CSS still leaves a need to check the remaining control, displayed drawing and selection marking together.
An actual interaction check would select from the top and inspect the lower marking, then select from the bottom and inspect the drawing. Late preparation and changed material deserve separate cases. Here I have compared the original requests and the two archived code versions. The transferable method is to inspect one state with several operating positions, rather than stop when the repeated buttons merely look alike.
