A title containing a number can acquire a different apparent meaning if it is automatically emphasized as notation. K-POP PULSE’s historical renderer changes adjust numeric/punctuation criteria and possessive-quote boundaries. I developed a further approach: a small module in which the editor explicitly marks the meaning to present.
It receives text and notation tokens and renders them. It does not determine whether the editor’s meaning is factually correct or convert time. Core checks passed, while fresh desktop, narrow-screen and keyboard interaction review remains pending. The shared code retains that distinction.
Separate recognizing a shape from deciding a meaning
Times, dates and work titles can all contain numbers and quotes. When one shape supports different meanings, additional regex conditions do not necessarily classify every sentence correctly. The new module asks the editor to separate ordinary text from notation in the input structure instead.
This provides a path for retaining a meaning already known, rather than deleting content or pretending to automatically migrate every document. If an importer is needed, implement meaning assignment and review separately from presentation. A renderer should not silently acquire responsibility for classifying a whole archive.
Tokens preserve the parts and order of a sentence
A text token is ordinary prose; notation marks a string selected by the editor. A name containing digits remains prose when marked text. Its possessive quote does not need to pair with a later notation token. The token sequence retains the reading order.
The input below is newly written illustrative data with a synthetic name and time. The demo’s three fields explain the relationship, while the core API accepts a sequence of multiple tokens. They do not restrict the whole blog’s subjects or editorial forms to three parts.
Explore the implementation
New explicit-token example; synthetic data, not a verified or converted schedule.
const tokens = [
{type:'text', text:"Aster's next date is "},
{type:'notation', text:'6PM (KST)'},
{type:'text', text:'.'}
];
renderNotationTokens(tokens);
// Only the explicitly marked token becomes a code element.
// This does not verify or convert the time value.A supplied string does not grant markup execution
The core emits fixed code tags and escaped text. A string shaped like a tag is displayed as characters instead of creating that tag. Marking notation does not grant permission to execute HTML inside its value. This remains true for text supplied through the live example’s fields.
It is not a general-purpose sanitizer retaining permitted elements from an HTML document. Supplied markup becomes text. Real HTML implementations and video belong in the site’s separate editing blocks. The typography helper should not gain administrator or entire-document execution privileges.
Reject unknown contracts instead of silently accepting them
Unsupported token types and non-string values produce an error. An excessive token count is rejected rather than silently truncating the document. Those explicit conditions avoid leaving the reader unaware that part of a manuscript disappeared during rendering.
New needs can extend meaning, output and checks together. Adapt code.notation styling to the destination site’s colors and wrapping. Confirm that another feature does not alter established text order and values. The package does not include server storage or a complete document editor, and a route into one needs separate integration.
Retain core checks separately from screen verification
The download includes the module, standalone Korean and English HTML, documentation and Node checks. Ten synthetic checks passed, covering numeric titles, possessive and curly quotes, tag-shaped text, malformed kinds and excessive input. These do not certify factual meaning or every HTML security property.
I checked the Korean and English example frames at 960px and 390px widths in the actual Studio browser. Edited notation reaches the preview, and tag-shaped input remains text without creating an image element. Narrow wrapping and horizontal overflow were checked too. Assistive-technology reading order, physical devices and the integrating site’s complete flow need separate review. Change the strings below to inspect how the assigned meaning reaches presentation.
